A story for my Sammy...

Ok, so mine is adapted from an original, but when I heard it, I thought of us straight away.

This is the original story, from the West wing, about addiction, it might help to read this first.

So this guy’s walking down a street, when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep, he can’t get out.

A doctor passes by, and the guy shouts up, Hey you! Can you help me out? The doctor writes him a prescription, throws it down the hole, and moves on.

Then a priest comes along, and the guy shouts up, Father, I’m down in this hole! Can you help me out? The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole, and moves on.

Then a friend walks by. Hey Joe, it’s me, can you help me out? And the friend jumps down into the hole! Our guy says Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here! And the friend says, Yeah, but I’ve been down here before, and I know the way out.

This is my take on our version of the story:

So this girl’s walking down a street, when she falls in a hole. The walls are so steep, she can’t get out.

A casual acquaintance passes by, and the girl shouts up, Hey there! Can you help me out? The acquaintance throws down a bottle of wine and a naked man, says get drunk, have sex, you’ll feel better. Then you can climb out

Then a loving family member comes along, and the girl shouts up, hey, I’m down in this hole! Can you help me out? The family member is sympathetic, but they say look, you’ve been down that hole long enough, I’ve tried to pull you out but you won’t help yourself, you just need to get over it now. Then you can climb out

Then a true friend walks by. Our girl says Hey buddy, it’s me, can you help me out? And the friend jumps down into the hole! Our girl says Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here!

And the friend says, Yeah, but I’ve been down here before, and I know the way out. Let’s climb together
